Shaken, not stirred

Since we last left our hero (me) the world has turned upside down.  Well, my world has.

Call from my accountant:  I owe the IRS thousands and thousands.  Yes.

So, my finances were supposed to change in September with a big decrease in alimony.  But now that must all go to the Government.  No moving to housing of my own.  Possibilities of paying rent for myself are dashed.  C & S are stuck with me a little longer (and they continue to be so very gracious).

Call from genetic off-spring, her new (used) car has died.  Ends up it a catastrophic engine failure.  Over-heated, bent, warped, cracked,  dead.

Good news!  It's all Honda's fault: they will replace engine, extend warranty, we're back on the road (soon).

And that was just the weekend.

But I am not beaten.  Weighed down, but not crushed.

I'm sorry to hear that Joe! Ouch! I have worked with the IRS to get on a payment plan. Maybe that could help. But again, not fun.

That which does not kill us...sigh. So sorry, handsome. Wish I were in a position to help ease the burden.

Fire your accountant. S/he should be advising you BEFORE you rack up the debt.

In the past six weeks, we've spent 75% of my annual income on repairing a house we want to sell within the year. Might not happen now. *sigh* Just goes to show, it's always something.

I can't believe you suddenly owe them so much. They must have messed something up. How can I help? Hugs.

indeed never crushed.

This too shall pass ...

Is he sure you owe that much? Did he make a mistake? Hang in there. All will be well.

Keep us posted.

Sorry to hear you are passing through that phase of the moon. Sending love and hugs!

Leona Helmsley may have said it best: "Only the little people pay taxes."

Awww, I'm sorry Joe for making light of it. Tax talk always reminds me of her. Have you thought about getting a second opinion?

C&S sound like really fine folks. I'm so glad you can depend on them.

I'm sending virtual hugs your way. xoxo

This is rough news, but you have good friends who will help you get through it all... and your faith.

Good news about the warranty on the Honda. That is a bright spot, indeed.

Thinking of you and many hugs!

Trust the government to kick you just when things were starting to look up. I hope there is at least a little lee-way in it for you.

Hard to get news like that out of the blue. Sorry.

My partner got an IRS letter like that once. But it did turn out that he was right and the IRS was wrong. The IRS sucks. It's actually the least Constitutional branch of government.
